In order to deepen spiritual insight, you must remind yourself over and over of your true identity. You, a human being, are chosen to remember your true nature. It is important to begin your work of keeping a spiritual journal by holding this truth in your thoughts.

Unfortunately, the glorious Knowledge of who you really are can be lost in the world of everyday experiences. Yet, it is these everyday experiences that carry with them all of your opportunities for interior growth. On the one hand you can bury yourself in the everyday world and forget to remember. On the other hand, you cannot develop spiritual depth without being very conscious of the experience of human reality. Therefore, you must first be rooted in the everyday world. For in that world, Wisdom acts as an inner directive — moving intentionally within experience, pushing spiritual evolution forward. Within each individual life this presence of Wisdom is at work, available to surface over time within the context of personal awareness.

Spirituality is an evolving process of Self-awareness. It moves through our life carrying with it all of our experiences, building meaning and insight upon previous understanding. When exploring your spirituality, keep in mind that this process begins at birth and moves through different stages of awareness. For this reason, all recommended lists of remembered experiences should go back into your memory as possible and move forward chronologically into the present moment, allowing you to feel the development of meaning.

And so your inner work plants the ordinary firmly in the ground. Only then can you follow the stepping stones leading you into the life-long process of true spiritual awakening

You will need a three ring loose-leaf binder in which to place your printed out e-book and standard three-hole lined paper for writing. As you work on each lesson, you will have a simple, well organized journal in which to file your entries.
